Introduction to the Medicines of Liu Ming
Introduction to the Medicines of Liu Ming
3 CEU's and PDA's available
This short class serves as an introduction to the vast body of knowledge and information represented by the late Liu Ming, founder of Da Yuan Circle. Attendees will better understand how the underlying contemplative philosophy of Liu Ming informs the various forms of medicine and wisdom sciences he taught.
Liu Ming (Charles Belyea) was a founding director of Five Branches TCM school, a Daoist lineage holder, and an expert in many of the traditional disciplines of East Asia. His perspective on medicine was uniquely grounded in the philosophy of Wu Wei Dao - the path of effortless accomplishment. He left a tremendous legacy of teachings, with applications to diet, acupuncture, seasonal and environmental health, movement, and especially non-conceptual meditation.
With such a wealth of information available, we offer an introductory course to help new and returning students orient themselves in a way that preserves Liu Ming’s unique perspective, while offering guidance towards other areas of specialized interest. Emphasis will be on distinguishing conceptual/accumulative practices from non-conceptual practices, and understanding how a fundamental grounding in a non-striving View affects both our personal and clinical practices. We will explore how this View can inform our understanding of TCM, feng shui, qi gong, astrology, sleep, nutrition, and other areas of Liu Ming’s expertise.
